How the CapCut Price Increase Changed Pro and Standard

Did CapCut really double its price?
Partly. The plan called CapCut Pro now costs far more than many subscribers remember. CapCut also added a cheaper Standard tier at the same time.
CapCut describes the change as an upgraded Pro, not a renamed one. That distinction decides which plan you should compare.

Two first-party sources publish CapCut’s paid prices for US buyers, and each covers different plans.

Monthly prices in the app
In the same 29 September 2026 capture, the listing also shows a $7.99 monthly entry and an $89.99 yearly entry, but doesn’t name the plans they belong to. We couldn’t match either to a current plan, so neither appears in the table.
The annual Pro price
No annual Pro entry appears in the App Store’s visible list. The annual figure comes only from CapCut’s comparison page, which contradicts itself elsewhere; for example, it calls Standard the free version. Treat it as CapCut’s stated price and confirm it at checkout.

What CapCut says Pro gained, and what Standard is
CapCut’s help notice gives two concrete numbers for the upgraded Pro plan.
The two numbers CapCut published

The notice also mentions new professional editing benefits without listing them. We can’t tell you what those are.
🔍 Why It Works This Way: CapCut says the old price was withdrawn because the upgraded Pro needed more development, infrastructure and maintenance. The notice presents the higher price as covering those costs.
Where the new Standard plan fits
CapCut launched Standard alongside the change, aimed at editing enthusiasts who don’t need every Pro feature. Several guides call Standard the old Pro plan under a new name. CapCut’s notice says something different: Standard is new, and Pro was upgraded.

What CapCut hasn’t said about existing subscribers
CapCut’s March 2026 notice names only one group: new subscribers, who can no longer get the previous price.
“New subscribers” is the only group named
CapCut’s explanation for higher renewal prices, also dated 25 March 2026, says some users may see their Pro subscription price change and puts it down to plan upgrades. It doesn’t say which subscribers, from when, or by how much. We found no CapCut statement on whether existing plans keep their old rate, and we won’t guess.

App Store, Google Play, and web billing differ
We verified only the US App Store. We did not verify Google Play or CapCut’s web checkout.
✅ Do This: Before your renewal date, open the subscription screen on the platform where you bought CapCut and note the renewal price.
How much CapCut’s price went up, in real numbers
We can confirm the new price but not the old one. No CapCut page or store listing we retrieved on 29 September 2026 states what Pro cost before the change.
The monthly change
Third-party guides disagree on the old monthly price, and none cites CapCut or a store listing, so we don’t publish one. If you have an old receipt, your increase is (new price − old price) ÷ old price × 100. A receipt showing half today’s monthly price means a 100% rise.
The annual change, and the 177% figure
One widely shared figure put the annual increase at 177%, based on a move from $77.99 to $179.99. Those two numbers give 130.8%, not 177%: ($179.99 − $77.99) ÷ $77.99 = 1.308. We haven’t verified the $77.99 starting price; we’ve only checked that the arithmetic doesn’t hold.
A dated timeline of the change

- 23 September 2026: CapCut’s Standard vs Pro page shows this date and lists current Pro prices.
- 29 September 2026: The US App Store listing (app version 19.6.0, released 21 September) shows separate Standard and Pro monthly entries.

When Standard is enough
If you don’t rely on Pro’s larger AI-point allowance or 1TB of storage, compare Standard first. If you’re considering dropping to the free plan, check what the free plan limits on export before you do.
How cancelling works
